GLA: Technical Classrooms Expansion

Who We Are
Global Leadership Academy (GLA) is a registered, non-profit independent high school in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, founded in 2010 with a clear mandate: to Make Disciples and Shape Leaders through quality Christ-centred education. Accredited by Umalusi and the Department of Education, GLA consistently delivers academic excellence and holistic development rooted in biblical values.

Our Impact

  • Academic Excellence: 100% matric pass rate for 10 consecutive years.
  • Leadership Recognition: Best Performing Independent School in the Eastern Cape (2023 & 2024).
  • Social Transformation: 30% of learners receive bursaries to break the poverty cycle.
  • Spiritual Growth: Over 90% of students show increased commitment to faith annually.
  • Addressing Youth Unemployment: With a youth unemployment rate exceeding 60% locally, GLA’s new Technical Stream offers practical skills that lead to higher employability, economic growth, and entrepreneurship.

Endorsements & Community Support
Kouga Executive Mayor, Cllr. Hattingh Bornman: “Enabling our children with technical skills, both Civil and Electrical, will contribute greatly to our local economic growth. This initiative will allow businesses to employ local talent and provide learners with greater career opportunities beyond high school.

Dries du Preez, Chairman of the Kouga Business Forum: “Our region faces a significant shortage of skilled technicians and workers. GLA’s program is a much-needed solution, and we encourage investments and funding to support its success.

Pierre de Villiers, Former Chief Education Specialist, Eastern Cape Education Dept: “The establishment of a Technical Stream at GLA is critical in preparing learners for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. GLA’s proven track record and capable management make it ideal to drive this initiative successfully.

The Expansion Project
To meet growing demand and expand our reach, GLA is building six new technical classrooms — a vital step toward equipping learners for the future workplace. The project is already 75% complete, funded by local partners, businesses, and individuals, with R2.6 million raised to date.

Funding Gap
We seek R1.43 million to complete essential works including windows, electrical installations, plumbing, flooring, and finishing touches. Your support will directly enable us to:

  • Complete safe, modern facilities that inspire learning
  • Expand enrolment capacity for technical education
  • Sustain long-term community impact and economic development

Looking Ahead: Vision for Growth and Sustainability
GLA is committed not only to completing the current technical classrooms but also to building a thriving, sustainable educational ecosystem that maximises impact on learners and the wider community. Our strategic infrastructure projects for 2025–2027 include:

  • Additional Male and Female Bathrooms & Change Rooms – R1,500,000: Enhancing student wellbeing and capacity as enrolment grows.
  • WiFi Infrastructure Upgrade & Expansion – R430,000: Providing reliable digital access for modern learning and future-ready skills development.
  • New Entrance Gate & Security Booth – R490,000: Strengthening campus safety and accessibility for learners and staff.
  • Multi-sport Astro Turf Field – R4,600,000: Promoting physical health, team leadership, and extracurricular excellence.
  • Teacher Residence – R8,700,000: Supporting staff retention by providing housing, generating sustainable rental income to reinvest in the school.

Each project contributes to the long-term financial sustainability of GLA by increasing capacity, enhancing learning environments, and building assets that serve future generations. Our vision extends beyond education—transforming communities through faith, leadership, and opportunity.
